Bespoke footwear service available from the BootRoom

The independent footwear specialist, BootRoom is offering customers a bespoke service, sourcing specific shoes and trainers, which are often difficult to find, free of charge.

The value added service is part of the owner, Lee Shakespeare’s vision for providing customers with a better shopping experience.

Talking about the service he commented:  “As an independent retailer we have to devise strategies to compete with the bigger chains. For me, it’s all about personality and being able to offer customers something more than a pair of shoes.

“Shoppers don’t just want a faceless impersonal service, they want to be able to come in to a shop and be given proper advice, building a relationship with someone who they can trust. This is what sets us apart from many other brands.”

Bootroom sells a wide range of leading sports brands including Nike, Adidas, Converse, Jordan, and has exclusive rights to sell Laceze in- store. The range includes a wide variety of footwear for sports in addition to the latest lifestyle sports shoe ranges. They also sell a wide range of running and gym wear.

To get in touch with Lee, visit BootRoom located on Friargate between Love Aroma and Thorntons. Tel: 01472 361379 or email Bootroom16@hotmail.com

Freshney Place Wins National Recognition For Environmental Campaign

We are delighted to announce we have won national recognition for our environmental campaign, Green Grimsby which took place in 2018. The centre was presented with a Revo Purple Apple award at a glamorous ceremony held in London on May 9 and attended by industry professionals from around the country.

The inspiration for Green Grimsby came from Grimsby’s reputation as the renewable energy capital of England and a desire to celebrate the town’s achievements in this field. The initiative aimed to drive greater awareness of environmental concerns, including sustainability and a greener approach to living, engaging with the people of Grimsby via a series of events, survey pre and post the campaign and partnerships with local businesses.

We succeeded despite the competition which included large shopping centres from around the country and was commended for the campaigns ‘creativity…in the development of wider community partnerships’ and for its “fresh creative approach which combined educational and interactive elements.”

A number of educational and informative events were hosted at the Freshney Place during 2018 and all shared an environmental theme. The campaign engaged with numerous groups, organisations and stakeholders including those in education, the council and businesses.

The Revo Purple Apple Marketing Awards are the only awards which recognise and reward effective retail destination marketing within the UK retail property sector.

There was Maypole Madness at Freshney Place to celebrate May Day!

To celebrate Mayday, Freshney Place Shopping Centre invited the local community to come along and join in with the tradition of Maypole dancing!

Maypole dancing is an ancient tradition where performers act out a ceremonial folk dance around a tall pole adorned with ribbons, which are then plaited to create beautiful patterns.

The fun and light hearted event invited adults and children alike  to have a go at knotting the Maypole ribbons under the guidance of professionals who demonstrated the dances and provided instruction.
