Join our free event to celebrate World Environment Day

Following on from Freshney Place’s popular Green Grimsby campaign that took place during 2018, the shopping centre will be hosting an event to celebrate World Environment Day this June.

On Saturday June 8, a fun and free event will take place between 11am-3pm in Market Square, near Starbucks, encouraging families and children to think about the environment. The event named Forest Craft will feature environmentally friendly crafts based on nature that children can make and then take home with them.

Air drying clay will be used to imprint the textures from leaves, nuts, berries and more. Children will also be able to make magical leaf lanterns by decorating jars with leaves of different colours and shapes to take home.

If you’re planning on joining us this Saturday, we’d love to hear from you!

Freshney Place wins national recognition for environmental campaign

Freshney Place has won national recognition for our environmental campaign, Green Grimsby which took place during 2018. The centre was presented with a Revo Purple Apple Marketing Award at a glamorous ceremony held in London and attended by industry professionals from around the country.

The inspiration for Green Grimsby came from Grimsby’s reputation as the renewable energy capital of the UK and a desire to celebrate the town’s achievements in this field. The initiative aimed to drive greater awareness of environmental concerns, including sustainability and a greener approach to living, engaging with the people of Grimsby via a series of events, survey pre and post the campaign and partnerships with local businesses.

Freshney Place succeeded in beating off the competition which included large shopping centres from around the country and was commended for the campaign’s ‘creativity…in the development of wider community partnerships’ and for its “fresh creative approach which combined educational and interactive elements.”

A number of educational and informative events were hosted at the shopping centre during 2018 and all shared an environmental theme. The campaign engaged with numerous groups, organisations and stakeholders including those in education, the council and businesses.

The Revo Purple Apple Marketing Awards are the only awards which recognise and reward effective retail destination marketing within the UK retail property sector.
