Get Active in August

Freshney Place is inviting families and friends to Get Active this August with a number of fun, energetic events taking place in the centre during the month.  The free activities and classic games will be hosted in Market Square, near Starbucks from 1am to 3pm,  to encourage the community to have a go whilst honing their fitness skills.

The playful entertainment is designed to get the whole family on board and will kick off on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th with a surf simulator so, if you haven’t managed to get to the seaside yet this will be a chance to experience catching those big waves! Participants can test their balance and stamina as the board twists and tilts like a real life surfboard, (without the water), testing how long they can stay upright.

On Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th, keen climbers can try out their moves on a gripping bouldering wall. Suitable for all ages and abilities, families will be able to race each other to the end, testing out their speed and strength. Finally on the last weekend of August a Golf Simulator will give budding golf pro’s a chance to score a hole in one!

During the events there will also be a selection of family friendly games such as a giant snakes and ladders, jumbo hi-tower, big 4 and table tennis, to help get everyone in the mood.

We hope to see you there! If you are planning on joining us, get involved by clicking “Attending” on our Facebook Event here!

Join our free event to celebrate World Environment Day

Following on from Freshney Place’s popular Green Grimsby campaign that took place during 2018, the shopping centre will be hosting an event to celebrate World Environment Day this June.

On Saturday June 8, a fun and free event will take place between 11am-3pm in Market Square, near Starbucks, encouraging families and children to think about the environment. The event named Forest Craft will feature environmentally friendly crafts based on nature that children can make and then take home with them.

Air drying clay will be used to imprint the textures from leaves, nuts, berries and more. Children will also be able to make magical leaf lanterns by decorating jars with leaves of different colours and shapes to take home.

If you’re planning on joining us this Saturday, we’d love to hear from you!

There was Maypole Madness at Freshney Place to celebrate May Day!

To celebrate Mayday, Freshney Place Shopping Centre invited the local community to come along and join in with the tradition of Maypole dancing!

Maypole dancing is an ancient tradition where performers act out a ceremonial folk dance around a tall pole adorned with ribbons, which are then plaited to create beautiful patterns.

The fun and light hearted event invited adults and children alike  to have a go at knotting the Maypole ribbons under the guidance of professionals who demonstrated the dances and provided instruction.

Easter events draw huge crowds at Freshney Place Shopping Centre

Freshney Place Shopping Centre had one of its busiest Easter trading periods in recent years owing to a range of activities and events which were designed to entertain customers, adding some seasonal fun over the weekend.

The events which were all free, included a petting farm experience, an Easter trail, face painting and an Easter egg nest craft event. The general sense of fun was added to by the Easter Bunny, who could be spotted on Thursday 18 April bouncing through the shopping centre giving out free chocolate eggs to passers-by as a random act of kindness.

Exciting Easter Events!

Freshney Place would like to invite you to a very special weekend of events to celebrate Easter!

On the 18th of April between 11am-3pm, we will have a petting farm where children can come into cuddle corner and pet animals, including rabbits, sheep, a pony, hedgehogs and more! There will also be an opportunity for the kids to have their faces painted by professionals, and go on an exciting Easter Hunt to win some delicious chocolate.

Children can take part in the Easter Hunt on the 18th, 19th, 20th and 22nd of April!
