Huge Turnout at Freshney Place Shopping Centre for Annual FundraiserPosted: Tuesday 05th June
This weekend we hosted a fantastic pirate themed weekend with the public getting on-board with the fun, themed activities, all to help raise money for two incredible charities, When You Wish Upon a Star and Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).
One Great Day, now in its fifth year, saw a huge turnout as shoppers and families joined in with the excitement around the centre with all donations and proceeds from the day going to the selected charities. Children scrambled aboard the 22-foot pirate ship and families had a great time enjoying the pirate themed games such as Walk the Plank and Splat the Rat. A treasure hunt around the centre also took place with prizes for everyone who completed the puzzle.
The youngsters were delighted with the face painting on offer and for those wanting a bit of quiet Waterstones hosted imaginative storytelling sessions and children were also given the opportunity to purchase their own personalised pirate adventure book.
Amanda Austin, Centre Director said; “One Great Day is an important annual fundraising initiative for us and the public didn’t let us down. We had a brilliant turnout with lots of families joining us to have fun whilst raising vital funds for these very worthy causes. My thanks to everyone who came along and participated in the day’s activities and donated.”
The proceeds from the day’s events will be distributed between When You Wish Upon a Star, a Grimsby based charity which grants the wishes of children living in the area with life-threatening illness and Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) who also provide vital care and support for children in our region.
