Green Fingers Gardening EventPosted: Monday 02nd July
On Friday, we offered shoppers the chance to enhance their gardening practices when local horticultural expert Loretta (Tich) Rivett hosted a gardening drop in session as part of our Green Grimsby initiative.
Loretta answered many gardening hints and tips and was giving advice as to how you can make small changes in your garden that will support wildlife and insects living in and around it.
She also demonstrated how to grow plants such as potted herb gardens that can survive on a doorstep or window sill, and which, when flowering can help pollination. She also demonstrated how you can recycle old food containers to make them into brilliant flower pots, saving money as well as taking care of the environment!
Finally, she distributed free wildflower seeds to help promote a sustainable garden. Not only will these support the natural order of life, helping the bird and bee population, but it also creates an abundance of colour and beauty in any garden!
